Suzuki’s launched a fresh dual-sport and supermoto assault at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, flicking the modern switch via the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM as long-awaited replacements for the DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM.
The new duo will be launched in Australia in Q3 2025, with ride away pricing to be announced closer to the release date.
The DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are powered by an updated 398cc, single-cylinder four-valve DOHC engine with a ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes and traction control including a gravel mode similar to the larger-capacity V-Strom adventure bikes. Power and torque are 37.6hp (28kW) and 37Nm respectively for the Euro 5+ emissions compliant pair.
Compared to the previous DR-Z engine, the latest version has a new 42mm throttle body, new radiator, new cam profiles, new piston and a revised air cleaner.
The 151kg DR-Z4S has a twin-spar steel frame and adjustable, long-travel KYB suspension with a 280mm stroke at the front and 296mm at the rear. Ground clearance is a healthy 300mm.
It’s also the first Suzuki with switchable ABS for both front and rear wheels. The wheel sizes are 21 (front) and 18-inch, so no terrain should be out of bounds.
Meanwhile, the DR-Z4SM carries on the legacy of Suzuki’s previous supermoto, the ridiculously entertaining DR-Z400SM with a level of performance and freedom that will boost any
rider’s confidence to a whole new level.
The 17-inch wire-spoked wheels are shod with shod with Dunlop rubber, and the seat height is 890mm. ABS is switchable on the rear only.
