Suzuki has unveiled a third member of its GSX-S1000 family at the 2023 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, dubbing its new GSX-S1000GX a ‘sport crossover’ variant.
Powered by the same 152.3hp (112kW) 999cc inline-four cylinder engine as its stablemates, it features 150mm of suspension travel at both ends and can lay claim to being Suzuki’s most electronically advanced model to date.
As well as three selectable ride modes and a six-tiered (including off) traction-control system, the new long-legged road bike is the first production Suzuki to feature electronic suspension, complete with three switchable preset modes that can firm up the suspension for sportier riding or prioritise comfort over longer, more relaxed distances or when carrying a pillion.
It also features another system called Road Adaptive Stabilisation which, when the bike senses a change in the roughness of the road’s surface, adjusts the electronic throttle valve settings to deliver a more predictable throttle response until the surface improves.
A two-way quickshifter is standard fitment, as is cruise control and Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist and Easy Start System, as well as torque and lift control. It’s all accessed via a new 6.5-inch TFT screen which, as well as full connectivity and a USB outlet, features switchable themes depending on the ambient light and adjustable brightness.
The suspension hardware is Showa’s SFF-CA inverted fork matched to the BFRC-lite monoshock, while the brakes look to be the same Brembo-front, Nissin-rear setup as its GSX-1000GT sibling. A 19L tank, a decent-sized rear luggage rack and a three-step adjustable (over 50mm) windscreen complete the touring features.
The new GSX-S1000GX will be available from April next year in Metallic Triton Blue only, and will carry a price tag of $25,890 (ride away).
