EICMA: 2024 MV Agusta LXP Orioli

MV Agusta showcases limited-edition iteration of its new triple-cylinder adventure bike

MV Agusta has unveiled a high-spec limited-edition version of its first adventure bike at the 2023 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy.

Race pedigree

Powered by a 931cc triple-cylinder engine, it’s called the LXP Orioli, with Orioli referring to the 1990s racer Edi Orioli who twice won the Dakar Rally riding Cagiva Elefants (Cagiva and MV Agusta were once in the same stable).

Called the Lucky Explorer 9.5 when it first surfaced at EICMA in 2021, the bike’s name – recently thought to be changed to Enduro Veloce – broke cover at the show under the simpler LXP moniker.

Breaking new ground

It’s the historic brand’s first serious adventure offering, complete with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tubeless rims and with a decent 230mm of ground clearance. The triple-cylinder engine makes peak output figures of 125.1hp (92kW) at 10,000rpm and 102Nm at 7000rpm, with 87Nm available at just 3000rpm.

On the electronics front, the LXP benefits from a six-axis IMU which facilitates cornering ABS, while the four selectable ride modes (Urban, Touring, Off-Road and Custom All-Terrain) adjust power delivery, the five-level traction-control system, and the two-level engine brake depending on the rider’s choice.

As well as cruise control, the high-definition dash is a seven-inch affair and features both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, while the seat height is adjustable by 20mm between 850 and 870mm.

Limited production

Only 500 units of the Orioli edition will be produced, each with its tank signed by the Italian rider, and our expectation is it will sit at the top of a multi-tiered range that’s yet to be announced.
