One week after Royal Enfield launched its highly anticipated 450cc Himalayan, CFMOTO has used the EICMA motorcycle expo in Milan, Italy, to reveal an all-new 450cc adventure offering of its own in the form of this well-appointed CFMOTO 450MT.
Looking every bit like a rally bike, the new offering rolls on narrow 21-inch and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels and has 220mm of ground clearance, along with a full gamut of crash protection, an alloy sump guard, a rear luggage rack, and decent weather protection.
The CFMOTO 450MT weighs in at 175kg (dry) and is powered by a 449cc parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank, good for a claimed maximum output of 44.2hp (32.5kW) at 8500rpm and 44Nm at 6250rpm.
Offering 200mm of suspension travel at both ends, the 41mm upside-down KYB fork is adjustable for compression and rebound while the rear monoshock adds preload adjustability to the list. The seat height is a very accessible 820mm, with a lower 800mm unit available as an option, while braking is looked after by a single J.Juan-branded four-piston caliper gripping a 320mm disc at the front, with a single-piston caliper and 240mm disc at the rear.
Not short of well-regarded componentry, as well as the KYB suspension and J.Juan brake package, both the traction control and ABS systems are courtesy of Bosch, the latter also able to be disengaged at the rear for better control off-road.
The fuel tank is a useful 17.5L (compared to the CL-X700 Adventure’s 13L tank), while the instrument panel is a five-inch TFT unit with Bluetooth connectivity. There’s no word on pricing yet, but the new CFMOTO 450MT is expected to hit Australian dealerships in the second quarter of 2024.
