EICMA: 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp
Honda reveals modern version of iconic 1980s dual-sport machineHonda will release a 755cc parallel-twin adventure bike to the middleweight segment in 2023 in the form of the 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp. Based on the new Hornet CB750 platform and sharing the same engine and chassis, the Transalp boasts long-travel suspension, rolls on a 21-inch/18-inch wheel combination and gets a tailored electronics package to achieve its off-road capabilities.
With its four-valve heads, 270-degree firing order and 11:1 compression ratio, the 755cc parallel-twin produces 91.8hp (67.5kW) of power 9500rpm and 75Nm of torque. There are five switchable riding modes – Sport, Standard, Rain and Gravel as well as a customisable User mode – while Honda says the ride-by-wire throttle has been tuned to suit the Transalp’s “long-distance touring work”.

Further trimming of the electronics can be achieved through four levels of power, three levels of engine braking, and two levels of ABS intervention (ABS can also be switched off completely), as well as a five-stage traction control system. Wheelie control is included in the package.
The five-inch TFT instrumentation has four themes to choose from and incorporates Honda’s smartphone voice control system once the unit is paired with a compatible smartphone and associated hardware.
Suspension duties are looked after by Showa’s 43mm USD seperate function fork (SFF) with preload adjustment up the front, matched to a remote reservoir Showa rear shock, again with adjustment limited to preload only.
No-name twin-piston calipers bite a pair 310mm petal discs at the front, while a single-piston caliper and 256mm disc at the rear combine to bring the 208kg (wet) machine to a stop.
The fuel tank has a capacity of 16.9 litres, the seat height is 850mm, there’s 200mm of front wheel travel, 190mm of rear-wheel travel, and ground clearance is quoted at 210mm.
Due to arrive in the second half of 2023, the new Honda Transalp will be available in three colours: Ross White, Matte Ballistic Black or Matte Iridium Gray. Local pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
