Moto Guzzi is marking its 100th anniversary with some high-tech innovation on its all-new water-cooled V100 Mandello nakedbike.
While many dyed-in-the-wool Guzzi fans believed water-cooling the V100’s 90º 1043cc transverse V-twin was a significant enough departure from tradition to ring the Italian firm into its second century of production, last month’s soft launch kept plenty of surprising detail up its sleeve for its official EICMA unveiling.
Most notable is the bike’s adaptive aerodynamics. It’s not an altogether new concept; brands like Honda have filed patent applications for such to gain an edge over its superbike rivals, but few could have ever predicted Moto Guzzi would be the first to market with a production bike featuring the innovation.

The air defectors mounted on either side of the 17.5L tank will adjust depending on both the mapping selected as result of the new ride-by-wire equipped throttle and the speed at which the bike’s travelling at. And according to Moto Guzzi, can reduce the amount of wind that hits the rider by up to 22 percent. The screen’s electrically adjustable, too.
As well as adaptive aero, the V100 boasts cornering ABS and traction control thanks to a six-axis IMU. Those selectable modes are Rain, Travel, Road or Sport and adjust the power delivery and throttle response from the engine which, despite the capacity hike, is a considerable 103mm shorter than the V85 TT’s small block it’s based on. Peak power is a claimed 115hp and 105Nm of torque, with 90 percent of the latter available as early as 3500rpm.
There’ll be two versions available when the V100 hits the market next year. What Guzzi is referring to as “the more comprehensive version” will boast semi-active suspension from Öhlins and a quickshifter as standard fitment, as well as heated grips and Moto Guzzi’s MIA multimedia software to facilitate the infotainment software and smartphone connectivity.
The event also played host the unveiling of a limited edition V85 TT Guardia d’Onore which pays homage to the 75-year collaboration between the Mandello firm and the unit responsible for the security of the Italy’s president.
