The Tuono 660 is the first of Aprilia’s newly launched mid-sized parallel-twin platform to receive the firm’s Factory treatment, as unveiled overnight at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.
Lighter, faster and more powerful than the current model, the 659cc parallel-twin gets a power boost of five horses up to 100hp, while torque remains unchanged at 67Nm. Add to that a two kilogram weight reduction thanks to a new lithium battery bringing it down to 181kg (kerb), quicker acceleration as a result of a smaller front sprocket (16-tooth compared to the current model’s 17-tooth counter sprocket), and it results in a far more sprightly machine with a higher power-to-weight ratio.

As well as the added performance, the KYB 41mm upside-down fork adds compression to its level of adjustability to make it a fully adjustable affair.
Aprilia also used the event to unveil a limited-edition RS 660 which celebrates the fact that it dominated the MotoAmerica Twins Cup championship in its first attempt in the hands of Kaleb de Keyrel. De Keyrel claimed victory in 10 of the series’ 13 races to loft the 2021 championship trophy.
The limited-edition model features cosmetic changes only with a Stars 'n' Stripes livery. Only 1500 versions will be produced with all models receiving a numbered badge of authenticity on the tank, but Australian Aprilia importer PS Importers says it has no plans to bring the model to our shores.
Following Honda’s lead of adventure-style scooters, Aprilia revealed its own version dubbed the SR GT. Available in either 125cc or 200cc guises, the so-called urban adventure scooter employs long-travel suspension, a wide handlebar, block-pattern tyres and increased ground clearance.
There’s no word at this stage whether they’ll make it to Australian shores.
