Yamaha’s highly anticipated MT-07-based adventure bike is another step closer to becoming a reality after the firm unveiled a prototype at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
Not to be confused with the already seen T7 concept, the newly named Ténéré World Raid prototype is, well, still more or less the same bike.
Powered by a retuned version of the MT-07’s 689cc parallel-twin engine, the bike cops Dakar-style navigational tower, along with carbon-fibre bodywork and an Akrapovic exhaust, all things unlikely to make standard figment on the final production version.
Yamaha also used the event to announce plans for the bike’s, er, World Raid, where a group of riders will circumnavigate the globe on board the prototypes travelling to America, Australia, Africa and Europe in what will be an extreme off-road marketing exercise.
In other Ténéré news, Yamaha also whipped the covers off a Raid edition of its big-bore 1200cc Super Ténéré, which comes with aluminium panniers, a robust aluminium sump guard, hand guards, a higher screen and spotlights.
