Yamaha has used Milan’s EICMA motorcycle expo to reveal an updated MT-07 as well as an up-spec SP version of its triple-cylinder MT-09 nakedbike for its 2018 line-up.
While the engine in the MT-07 remains largely unchanged from the current version, it’s its styling and running gear which have been the beneficiaries on next year’s 698cc parallel twin.
New bodywork brings the middleweight MT more in line with its larger MT-09 and MT-10 siblings, with a redesigned headlight, seat, side panels and intake for 2018.
The suspension is improved with a revised front fork for more feedback and the rear shock gains a rebound damping adjuster for more versatility. Despite the upgrades, it still retains its light weight accessibility with Yamaha claiming a dry weight of 164kg.
As for the newly announced MT-09 SP, Yamaha has thrown a host of high-spec componentry at an already capable motorcycle to create the second higher-spec MT model after the range-topping MT-10 SP.
As well as the Silver Blu Carbon colour scheme which extends to the special blue stitching within the seat, the SP gets an Öhlins rear shock matched to a fully adjustable Kayaba front fork, as well as white-on-black LCD instruments and blue wheels.
