Vespa used the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show to launch its first all-electric offering, unveiling the aptly named Elettrica at this week’s event.
According to the brand, the electric-powered scooter has a range of around 100km and, while other brands are beginning to explore the idea of a swap-and-go battery set-up, the Vespa employs the conventional-style battery which debuted on the concept version this time last year, which can be fully charged in four hours and via a domestic wall socket.
The firm also unveiled a hybrid version of the same machine, but instead of the four-stroke engine aiding the electric motor to power the scoot, it instead powers a generator which sends extra charge to the battery and doubles the available range.
The Electtrica will be offered in a base silver and grey pant scheme with the highlights available in up to seven different colours.
No word as to if or when the Elettrica or the hybrid Elettrica X might be available in Australia, or for how much.
