EICMA 2017: Triumph Tiger 800 range

Two off-road models and four road-going machines make up a heavily revised Tiger 800 line-up

Triumph has unveiled the latest generation 800cc Tiger range at this year’s EICMA Show in Milan.

The updated line-up consists of a two-tiered off-road biased XC range as well as a four-tiered road-going XR range and all machines benefit from what Triumph says is 200 chassis, engine and bodywork upgrades.

The off-road duo consists of the XCX and the XCA and use a 21-inch wire-spoked front wheel, while the road-going cast-wheeled range (with a 19-inch front) consists of the XR, XRX, XRT and XRX Low.

As well as new bodywork which includes a five-way adjustable screen, LED lighting and revised ergonomics, the Tigers all gain a full-colour TFT dash and up to six switchable riding modes including the XC’s all-new Off-Road Pro mode.

There’s switchable ABS and traction control as well as new Brembo calipers up front. Helping make the XC machines what the firm says are the most capable off-roaders yet, Triumph has also shortened the first gear and tweaked the engine for optimal throttle response and acceleration.

Bikes in both ranges gain a heated rider and pillion seat, while the higher end models gain new back-lit switch blocks featuring a new five-way joystick-style controller and the firm’s latest cruise control.
