EICMA 2017: Moto Guzzi V85 concept

Trick looking concept points to Moto Guzzi’s adventure intentions

Moto Guzzi used its native EICMA show in Milan to whip the covers off a concept adventure bike called the V85.

The so-called concept machine — complete with daytime running lights, indicators and a number plate hanger — points to the direction the firm is likely to take in terms of future adventure models now that Euro4 emission rules quietly killed off the firm’s 1200cc Stelvio.

Little is known about the concept except that’s it’s powered by a brand-new 850cc 80hp engine that will spawn a new range of mid-capacity offerings from the Italian brand.

Harking back to Moto Guzzi’s Dakar attempts, the V85 Concept looks to have some believable off-road capability.

As well as the wire-spoked wheels, the Öhlins suspension and Brembo brake packages, the sump protection and the high-mounted front guard, there’s a robust tubular steel frame, as well as an asymmetric swingarm which houses the drive shaft.

Handguards, a windshield and small rear rack complete the very well finished look.

And we’re not completely sure why, but the black, yellow and red livery is surprisingly easy on the eye. Here’s hoping it lobs into a Guzzi dealer near you soon.
