Husqvarna launched the first part of its all-new nakedbike line-up at the recent EICMA motorcycle show, unveiling production versions of the Vitpilen 401, Vitpilen 701 and Svartpilen 401 -- while using the event to reveal the latest concept of the Svartpilen 701.
The 401 models will meet Australian LAMS laws.
Using the same engine and chassis platform of the single-cylinder KTM Duke range, the Husqvarnas offer starkly different minimalist styling compared to the bright orange angular offerings from the Austrian-based firm.
The Vitpilen 701 boasts high end componentry. It’s suspended on the KTM-owned WP suspension and stopped by ABS-equipped single Brembo discs at both ends.
The engine is claimed to make 75hp and is mounted in a steel trellis frame, it boast ride-by-wire throttle and is equipped with traction control as well as a slipper clutch.
“Our Vitpilen and Svartpilen models encapsulate the bare essence of what motorcycles should be. They are about the raw, simple and universal joy of riding a motorbike in style and we are thrilled to introduce Australians to them," said Husqvarna Australia General Manager Jeff Leisk.
“The talented designers we have been working with have brought the models to life in an extremely impressive way and we are looking forward to heralding a new era of urban motorcycling next year.”
The newly unveiled Svartpilen concept is based around the same engine and chassis platform of the Vitpilen, yet boasts what Husqvarna is calling a “simpler, timeless design approach”.
The Vitpilen and Svartpilen made their Aussie debuts at last week's Sydney Motorcycle Show, and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2018.
