BMW has used the EICMA motorcycle show to unveil its first entry-level scooter offering, with the new C 400 X joining the line-up from 2018.
Powered by a 350cc single-cylinder engine, it gets its 34hp and 35Nm of torque through to the ground via a CVT gearbox, and its equipped with ABS.
It rolls on relatively large-diameter 15-inch wheels which BMW says gives its handling a conventional motorcycle feel, while suspension is handled by a conventional telescopic fork and matched to a pair of spring struts at the rear.
It gets a 12-volt power socket as standard fitment, but a USB outlet is an added extra via the accessories catalogue. Speaking of, the 400 X is offered with two optional packages; the Comfort package which includes heated seat and grips, or the Connectivity package which comes with a full-colour 6.5-inch TFT dash as well as the firm’s bar-mounted multi-controller.
The standard seat height is 775mm, though a 15mm lower option is also available, as is an optional higher screen.
