EICMA 2015: WSBK-spec Aprilia RSV4 R for the people

You can now buy an RSV4 R with over 230hp!

While Aprilia had no new model announcements at its home international motorcycle show in Milan, it did announce punters will be able to purchase up to five different versions of the RSV4 R race bike directly off Aprilia Racing Team.

The Factory Works program will see Aprilia develop a 230hp+ bike for you to go racing on which will comply with most countries' current Superbike and Superstock technical rules. There will be five different specifications to choose from depending, presumably, on how deep your pockets are.

All five versions will start with an Aprilia RSV4 R fitted with Ohlins suspension and forged rims, the rest of the differences are as follows:

RSV4 R-FW Stock1 MM Race
Standard electronics with an extra-light lithium battery, the ECU reprogrammed to Race version with race maps for engine and bike management, settings reprogrammed and the ABS removed.

Engine weight reduced without the water thermostat, a simplified water tubes kit will be added and the secondary air system closed.

Optional parts in this kit are an Akrapovic exhaust kit, complete fairing kit, dedicated suspension settings and complete engine optimisation.

RSV4 R-FW Stock2 APX Race
Simplified racing of the electronic system with dedicated bike and engine wiring and a lightweight lithium battery. An APX2 logic unit which allows the ignition and engine control parameters to be programmed with the included hand terminal.

The unit includes a data acquisition system which allows logging of original sensors as well as optional sensors allowed by FIM Superstock 1000 rules. Aprilia Racing instruments and an ART-prepped racing engine.

Optional parts in this kit are an Akrapovic exhaust kit, complete fairing kit, dedicated suspension settings.

RSV4 R-FW SBK
Like the APX, there’s a simplified racing version of the electronic system with dedicated bike and engine wiring and a lightweight lithium battery. The APX2 logic unit on this SBK version includes a GPS module and an optional telemetry sensors kit. You get Aprilia Racing instruments with racing buttons, an electronic gearbox with assisted shifting (blipper), special Aprilia Racing tools and, of course, the special engine with SBK preparation by Aprilia Racing.

RSV4 R-FW W-SBK
This is the highest-spec Aprilia money can buy. It’s a replica of the RSV4 Superbike used by the official Aprilia Racing Team in the Superbike World Championship. Both the bike and the level of assistance may be tailored in accordance with the budget and ambitions of each rider and team.

RSV4 R-FW MISANO

This is the entry-level version of flagship W-SBK line. Each component has been optimised while still maintaining reliability. Aprilia describes it as “a bike that can do well at any competitive level, while remaining within reach of enthusiasts who desire an extraordinary bike to exercise their racing skills”. It comes in red/white/green tri-colour livery which celebrates the brand’s first victory in road racing.
