EICMA 2015: Victory’s Ignition concept

It’s not a nakedbike, but it’s close

So it’s not the road-going version of the Project 156 naked race bike many were hoping for, but Victory unveiled a very sporty cruiser concept at EICMA, powered by a 1200cc engine based on the Pikes Peak prototype.

While Victory chose Roland Sands to design Project 156, this concept, dubbed Ignition, was created by Swiss bike builder and multiple drag racing champ Urs Erbacher. Both the frame and the exhaust header, mid and leader pipes have been handmade by Erbacher, complemented by an Akrapovic silencer. The Ignition is suspended on a Marzocchi fork and an Ohlins rear shock and the high-spec componentry continues with the Brembo braking package.

The lightweight aluminium wheels and the soft 200-section Metzeler Racetec rubber indicates the Ignition’s sporty intentions.

All hope of the V-twin-powered nakedbike aren’t lost, however, with the American firm also announcing the Ignition’s engine will also power an “upcoming 1200cc class motorcycle”. Fingers crossed it’s not another cruiser.
