It’s probably cleverer than it sounds, but minor updates to the aesthetics and the ergonomics of BMW’s less expensive middleweight adventure duo were announced in Milan overnight.
The 2016 BMW F 700 GS and F 800 GS will be both available in two new styles as well five possible seat heights, expanding the bike’s target market considerably in what is a smart response to the adventure segment’s rapid growth.
Available in either metallic-looking colours options or non-metallic options, the bikes feature newly-designed tank covers and integrated ignition covers as well as two-colour seats.
Five seat heights will be made available for each model, achieved via four different seats as well as the option of lowered suspension. As a result the F 700 GS will have a seat height range of between 765mm and 860mm while the F 800 GS will be available with a seat height ranging from 820mm and 920mm.
The F 700 GS will be available in Light white non-metallic, Sakhir orange metallic, Mineral grey metallic colour options and the F 800 GS model will be available in Light white non-metallic, Black storm metallic, Racing blue metallic matt colour options.
As before, both models are powered by the same 798cc engine. The 700 GS is tuned for an output of 78hp (55kW) and 77Nm while the 800 boasts 84hp (63kW) and 83Nm.
