Ducati worldwide sales up in 2019

Ducati sales in 2019 were narrowly up from 2018, with Italy still the leading market for the Bologna-based company

Ducati ended 2019 on a high, with worldwide sales slightly up on the previous year’s figures. The Italian manufacturer sold 53,183 units in 2019, compared to 53,004 in 2018.

The Panigale played an important role in the sales success, confirming its status as the world’s best-selling superbike, with 8304 sales and a 25% market share.

Two new bikes introduced in 2019 – the Hypermotard 950 and Diavel 1260 – racked up sales of 4472 and 3129 respectively, doubling the overall volumes achieved in 2018 by previous versions.

Another solid performer was the Multistrada family, which scored a 3% increase from 2018. Sales totalled 12,160 – the best performance since the dual-sport bike debuted sixteen years ago. This result is thanks in part to the addition of the 950 S and a revamped 1260 Enduro.

“We’re working to make Ducati the world’s most desirable motorcycle brand,” said Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali. “2019 was a tough, but also rewarding year. The results we’re achieving, the development of the range, and the market response all confirm we’re on the right track.”

Italy is Ducati’s number one market, with sales totalling 9,474. The United States dropped 2% but still sits closely behind Italy with 7,682 sales. Brazil, Spain and France all saw significant increases, as did China, which is continuing the upward trend with 3200 units sold.

Ducati expects 2020 to be bigger again, with the long-awaited Streetfighter V4 set to drop mid-year, along with several other new models across the range.
