Formula One fans assemble. Ducati is celebrating the life of former F1 champion Ayrton Senna with an extremely limited-edition Monster.
Created by Ducati’s Centro Stile arm, the Monster Senna features a special livery that recalls the colours on Senna’s helmet throughout much of his career. The yellow, green, and blue colourway is a clear homage to his Brazillian origins.
The Monster Senna also features high-end components that enhance both its look and performance. This includes a 4kg weight reduction compared to the standard model, as well as a Termignoni exhaust, forged aluminium wheels, painted Brembo brakes, a special seat, an engine guard, and dedicated dashboard animation.
Only 341 units will be made available, marking the number of world championships (3) and race wins (41) that Senna achieved in his career.
The late Brazillian F1 legend was a motorcyclist and a passionate Ducati fan, having met then-Ducati owner Claudio Castiglioni in 1990 and taking possession of an 851 SP.
Senna was also one of the first owners of the Monster 900 and even rode it to a gala event for the 1993 Monaco Grand Prix.
The relationship between Senna and Ducati saw the two parties collaborate in 1994 to produce the now-iconic Ducati 916 Senna, which was limited to just 300 units.
Senna died in a racing accident while leading the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola in 1994, sparking a wave of grief throughout the F1 world.
Fellow driver Roland Ratzenberger was killed a day earlier in a separate incident on the same circuit. Senna was deeply affected by Ratzenberger’s death but ultimately decided to race the next day.
Senna was known for his aggressive and spectacular driving style, as well as his flamboyant lifestyle. He also had a fierce rivalry with French driver Alain Prost, with the pair reaching boiling point while teammates at McLaren-Honda in 1988-89.
Senna won his first world championship in 1988, before winning two more in 1990 and 1991. All three titles were won with McLaren-Honda.
Local availability and pricing for the Monster Senna are yet to be announced. Speak to your local Ducati dealer for more information.
