Ducati unveiling new V4 engine at Misano

And it's likely to be the one that will power the new superbike that's preparing to go to market

This week's round of the 2017 MotoGP title at Misano will offer much more than the standard press conference between the top riders, thanks to Ducati.

That's because the Italian manufacturer has confirmed that it will be unveiling a new V4 engine on Thursday, September 7, one that's expected to power a new generation road-going superbike to replace the long-serving twin cylinder range.

The new engine is called the Desmosedici Stradale, the latter being the Italian word for 'road'. So if it's not a road-going V4 mill we'll be very surprised…

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali has already confirmed that a V4-powered superbike is on its way, with the 1299 Panigale R Final Edition seemingly the last throw of the dice for Ducati's twin cylinder line-up.

The new V4 engine will be unveiled at Misano time (8:00pm AEST). Bikesales will have all the details as they come to hand.
