Ducati's Monster family has now grown by two with the unveiling of the 1100 and up-spec 1100S.
Using the same two-valve air-cooled Desmo engine as found in the Multistrada and Hypermotard machines, the M1100 now takes its place at the head of the Monster family, putting out 70kw (95hp) and 102nM.
The M1100 weights in at a claimed 169kg, one more than the S, which differs from the standard machine with its Ohlins suspension and carbon fibre cam belt covers, silencer guards and front mudguard. The S also has gold-coloured wheels.
Both bikes have a seat cowl, Y-spoke wheels and single-sided swingarm, unlike the 696.
The new Monster has just received its first public unveiling at INTERMOT in Cologne. It will go on sale in Australia as early as this December in red, silver or gloss black for the M1100, and red or white for the 1100S.
Pricing is still to be announced.
