To mark 25 years since the arrival of the Ducati 916, the Italian manufacturer is releasing a limited-edition run of 'Ducati Panigale V4 25th Anniversario 916' models.
Limited to a worldwide production of 500 units, the commemorative model based on the Panigale V4 will be unveiled before the public for the first time during this weekend's American round of the WorldSBK Championship, at California's Laguna Seca circuit on Friday, July 12.
The reveal, which will be held at a special ceremony at nearby Pebble Beach, will be attended by a man who is no stranger to the abilities of the Ducati 916 – none other than four-time World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty (pictured).

Some years before Troy Bayliss, the Briton achieved stratospheric racing success aboard Ducati superbikes through the 1990s, including winning the WorldSKB title in 1994, the 916's inaugural year. Fogarty repeated the feat in '95, '98 and '99, also having some epic clashes with fellow Ducati campaigner, Troy Corser. Corser rode Ducatis in WorldSBK from 1995 to 1999, and the Aussie won the title in 1996.
The 916 anniversary will also be celebrated on-track during the weekend, with Arubi.it Racing teammates Alvaro Bautista and Chaz Davies contesting the round aboard race bikes with a special livery inspired by the Panigale V4 25th Anniversario 916 model.

Designed by Massimo Tamburini, the Ducati 916 had a massive impact on the sportsbike scene. The model's timeless lines don't look out of place next to the latest brace of superbikes, and its performance and handling was legendary for the time. It was unique, lightweight, stylish and elegant, yet technologically innovative and potent, and it symbolised the prowess of Italian design and engineering.
Each Ducati Panigale V4 25th Anniversario 916 will be individually numbered and will feature an original livery and exclusive racing components. There's no word yet on pricing or local availability – Bikesales.com.au will bring you more information on this limited-edition model as it comes to hand.
