Ducati reveals hardcore DesertX Rally for 2024

The new Ducati DesertX Rally gives the dual-sport platform a bigger dose of off-road prowess

Ducati has revealed a high-spec version of its DesertX, with the new model featuring beefed-up suspension, more tech, and high-end components.

Set to compete with the likes of the KTM 890 Adventure R Rally, the all-new Ducati DesertX Rally will arrive in Australia early next year with a price tag of $36,000 ride away. That makes it nearly more than $11k more than the standard DesertX, but it features upgraded features and components.

The big news is closed cartridge KYB suspension which offers increased 250mm and 240mm travel front and rear respectively, while ground clearance has also been increased to 280mm. Both the fork and shock are adjustable, while there is Kashima coating on the fork tubes, and DLC coating on the sliders. The fork clamps are also machined from solid.

Also new for the Rally model is an adjustable Ohlins steering damper, a high front mud guard with split brake line, and high-strength Takasago Excel rims with billet hubs, carbon steel spokes, and inner tubes. The brake and gear pedals are machined from solid, while the bike also features a dedicated Iron Giant livery inspired by the Erzbergrodeo.

Elsewhere, the DesertX Rally maintains all the popular features and characteristics of the standard model. It is powered by a 937cc Testastretta twin-cylinder engine that puts out 110hp at 9250rpm and 92Nm at 6500rpm. A 21-litre fuel tank is fitted as standard, but there is also the option to purchase an auxiliary 8-litre tank for extra capacity.

The bike also features a wide array of tech, including a 5-inch colour TFT display, six riding modes, cornering ABS and traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, quickshift, LED lighting, and smartphone connectivity.

And despite the more robust suspension, Ducati claims that the DesertX Rally weighs in at just 1kg more than the standard model, which makes it 203kg dry.

Ducati Australia is yet to reveal an exact arrival date, but the new model is expected to be on dealer floors worldwide from January 2024.
