The long-awaited 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 has finally been revealed, with the Italian firm proclaiming the fourth-generation adventure machine as its most versatile yet.
Pricing will start at $28,990 away for the base model, with the top-of-the-range Multistrada V4 S Sport starts at $36,790 ride away. A number of optional packages are available at an extra cost.
Featuring the all-new 1158cc Granturismo engine, as well as a state-of-the-art electronics package, the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 continues the ‘four bikes in one’ theme that made its predecessors so popular.
According to Ducati, the Multistrada V4 is ‘more robust, lighter, more versatile, and more comfortable’, as well as better-performing and ‘effective in all riding conditions.’

Ducati has been teasing the latest version of the Multistrada for some time, particularly focusing on the new power plant and the introduction of innovative radar technology. The new machine was unveiled overnight in the first episode of a web series, which replaces the annual Ducati World Premiere for 2020.
The new Granturismo V4 engine puts out 170hp at 10,500rpm and 125Nm at 8750rpm. Ducati claims the lightweight and compact power plant also has record-setting maintenance intervals, with oil changes at 15,000km and valve clearance check and adjustment at 60,000km.
The electronic package on the new Ducati Multistrada V4 includes innovative technology in the name of safety, comfort, performance and connectivity. The usual functions from Borgo Panigale are there, including cornering ABS, wheelie control and cornering traction control, but it is the introduction of a radar system that is the talk of the town.
In partnership with Bosch, Ducati has added adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection using front and rear radars to the bike. While BMW and KTM are also working on machines with radar tech, the Multistrada V4 is the first finished production model to feature front and rear radars.
An aluminium monocoque frame accommodates 19-inch and 17-inch cast alloy wheels (spoked available too) and a double-sided swingarm. The fully-adjustable suspension features 170mm and 180mm travel front and rear respectively, while a ground clearance of 220mm and a respectable dry weight of 215kg add to the machines off-road potential.
Ducati has also focused on maximising comfort by using careful research to reduce noise, vibration and heat production. The V4 Grandturismo rear cylinder bank deactivates at idle, and heat is diverted away from the rider’s legs.
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 comes in three guises – a standard model, the V4 S, and the V4 S Sport. The V4 S adds the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension system, and cornering lights, while the V4 S Sport includes a dedicated livery and an Akrapovic exhaust and carbon front fender.
The new 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 is expected to arrive on Australian shores in the first quarter of 2021. Local pricing for the new model will start at $28,990 ride away for the base model, with the range-topping V4 S Sport (with Full Package option) checking in at $40,690 ride away.
