Ducati’s first motocross bike is expected to land in Australia later in 2025.
A race-prepped version of the all-new Ducati Desmo450 MX is already being used in various competitions in Europe, but the long-awaited production model will start rolling out globally from June 2025.
Ducati Australia anticipates that the bike will be available locally from September 2025.
The Desmo 450 MX is the first dedicated off-road competition motorcycle from the famous Borgo Panigale firm. It employs a single-cylinder engine with a desmodromic valve system – a unique feature in the motocross segment.
Further details of the production version are scarce, but the race version has impressed in the Italian Motocross Championship and the MXGP World Championship.
A SuperMotocross World Championship debut is expected in 2026 with help from iconic design company, Troy Lee Designs.
Ducati is putting all its energy into the Desmo450 MX for now, however a 250cc version is expected at some stage, as is a range of enduro models.
Ducati’s entry into the motocross segment follows that of Triumph, with both joining established motocross manufacturers from the likes of the KTM Group and the big four Japanese brands.
