Move over Ducati Monster Diesel, it's the Ducati Monster Bulgari's time to shine! This week we've decided to check out a Bulgarian custom bike, which has been attracting a few headlines for its unusual and bold styling.
Based on the Ducati Monster 1100 Evo, Bulgarian company Vilner Crafts has made several bespoke parts for this motorcycle, a motorcycle whose overall aesthetic was inspired by a cannibalistic stick insect.
Vilner asserts that the Ducati Monster Bulgari "was inspired by the clean body lines of the praying mantis, and by its graceful movements, which was the basis of the martial art Kung Fu".
Confused? Join the club...
We're not sure about the Kung Fu reference, but there is a touch of insectoid motivation in the design, particularly the front end design with its projector beam 'eye' and micro cowl. Overall it's not a bad look, though the wheel design may polarise opinion.
Notable changes to the Ducati Monster 1100 Evo include the controversial black-on-white duo tone wheels, custom made lower fairing and a new rear end that is shorter by 100mm and features a 'luxury' stitched seat.
The belly fairing is integrated with a pair of small frame brackets that are supposed to improve the bike's handling via reduced vibration.
Vilner's Ducati Monster Bulgari -- not to be confused with Italian luxury brand Bulgari -- gets a power boost too, upping the mumbo from 100hp to 110hp (81kW).
The custom bike is finished in 'pearl white' and is to be limited to just 100 units globally, ensuring the black-and-white creation's exclusivity.
Pricing is to be announced at a later date.
