Ducati has issued a safety recall which affects three models in its line-up: the SuperSport as well as two Monster variants, the 821 and the 1200.
The defect relates to a the gear levers which, due to an error in the manufacturing process, could see the shift knob loosen or even detach from the lever itself.
“The interference fit between the lever tip pin and the gear shift lever may not perform, in rare cases, may cause the pin to come out, increasing the risk of a crash,” the recall reads. “This may cause serious injury to riders and other road users.”
Ducati Australia says it will communicate the issue to all known owners via a letter and arrange to replace the affected part free of charge, but if you’ve purchased a secondhand one recently, it’s probably worth checking with your local dealer.
Alternatively, you check your Vehicle Identification Number against the list of affected models below.
