Ducati Hypermotard launches

Arguably Ducati's most-previewed and talked about bike ever, the Hypermotard has finally had its international launch in Europe

European figures price the machine somewhere around $19,000, and the reception so far has been very positive. The machine has been complimented for being light (179kg claimed dry) and responsive, getting the best out of its 1078cc, air-cooled, twin-spark powerplant, which is claiming 90hp. Apparently it's relatively comfortable, has good finish and a number of practical touches. The only archilles heel mentioned so far is the modest fuel tank size, which is 12.4lt.

There are two versions: the standard and the S which costs a couple of thousand extra. It includes lighter wheels and brakes off the 1098 Superbike.

In other Ducati news, the Desmosedici RR V4 road bike will have its public debut at the company's World Ducati Week event in July, at Misano.

UK Motorcycle News has a terrific little video of the Hypermotard online, which includes some wild footage of Ruben Xaus playing with it. View video here.
