Ducati has kicked off its centenary year celebrations with the new limited-edition Formula 73 model, which is inspired by one of the brand’s most iconic bikes.
With production limited to just 873 examples, the Formula 73 uses the legendary 750 Super Sport Desmo as its muse.
The Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo was the brand’s first V-Twin road bike equipped with a desmodromic valve timing system, and it was originally built as a replica of the 750 Imola Desmo that Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari rode to victory at the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola – the first European competition for production-derived motorcycles.

Underneath its retro-inspired style, the Formula 73 is based on the Ducati Scrambler platform and is powered by an air-cooled 803cc Desmodue L-twin engine. The motor puts out a claimed 73hp and 65.2Nm.
Fitted to the Formula 73 as standard is a Termignoni silence, KYB suspension, Brembo brakes, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, and a full electronics package complimented by a 4.3-inch TFT display.
Adding to the appeal of the Formula 73 is a range of matching motorcycle gear including an Arai helmet and a sports jacket. Both of these will be offered as options with the bike.
The Ducati Formula 73 will arrive in European dealerships in the first half of 2026, but only 873 units will be made. It’s unclear if any units will be available in Australia.
