Ducati’s factory MotoGP team will field the same two-rider line-up in 2015, with Briton Cal Crutchlow and Italian Andrea Dovizioso to remain as the incumbents. Dovizioso’s contract also extends through to 2016.
The announcement was made at 2014 World Ducati Week (WDW), which was held at Misano last weekend (July 19-20).
Crutchlow said: “Andrea (Dovizioso) is having a great season but we need to keep working hard in the second half of the year. I am certain that they are working hard in the factory in Italy. We hope to keep getting closer to the front guys. Marc (Marquez) seems like he is from another planet but Andrea (Iannone) beat him in the past.”
Iannone, a satellite Ducati rider in 2014, also remains in the company’s racing plans, with its MotoGP director Paolo Ciabatti saying at WDW that it wants to offer the Italian “better technical support”.
Dovizioso has been on the podium twice in 2015, and he is currently fourth in the standings behind Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi. Crutchlow hasn’t fared so well in his Ducati debut, languishing back in 14th spot. Iannone is eighth.
