Ducati sold more motorcycles in 2015 than it ever has in a 12-month period, selling 54,800 bikes worldwide through 700 dealers in 90 countries. The record sales year saw an increase of 9683 units, or 22 percent, over the previous year’s figures.
The company’s domestic market enjoyed the most gains with the Italian market up by a whopping 53 percent compared the year previous ahead of the China (46%), the UK (37%) and Germany (24%). Asia Pacific, which Australia falls under in the firm’s reporting structure, registered a 14 percent increase over the same period in 2014.
“The record sales of 2015 are the result of our company’s courage and skill”, Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali said. “Such growth confirms, in the vast majority of countries, the validity of both our products and our strategy.”
There’s no denying the firm’s newly launch Scrambler model buoyed the year’s results with the 803cc retro recoding over 16,000 sales worldwide in its first year, which puts it in the list of the year’s top 10 best-selling bikes in the world.
Ducati’s second-highest selling bike worldwide last year was the Multistrada 1200 selling half of what the Scrambler did at just over 8000 and it was followed by the Monster 821which sold 6500 units.
