Ducati announces 848 EVO

140hp, new steering damper, monobloc brakes, ultra sticky tyres and a new colour for the 2011 model

First came the Hypermotard 1100 EVO, and now Ducati has applied the same performance treatment to its 848 sports bike.

The 2011 848 EVO features more power from the Testastretta Evoluzione Twin, as well as the addition of Brembo Monobloc brakes and a cross-mounted steering damper.

The 848 EVO features new cylinder heads, pistons, throttle bodies and camshafts, with the Bologna-based manufacturer claiming the mods increase power to 140hp at 10,500rpm, and torque to 98Nm at 9750rpm. The standard 848 claims 134hp at 10,000 rpm and 96Nm at 8250rpm.

Tyres will be Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP, replacing the standard 848's Dragon Supercorsa PRO.

Colours will be traditional Ducati red (with red frame and black wheels) or "dark stealth" (black frame and wheels).

Australian deliveries of the 848 EVO will begin in September, with pricing still to be announced.
