Barely two months since the model first broke cover, Ducati’s 899 Panigale is about to go on sale Down Under and it's priced at $19,990 (plus on-roads) – the same price as the 848 Evo it supersedes.
The first shipment of the model will reach Australia in December, and will surely see initial buyers end 2013 on a high note.
Ducati Australia has said that $19,990 figure is an ‘introductory’ price that will hold for the first quarter of 2014. “The price will then be reviewed but is not guaranteed to stay the same beyond that date,” says the importer.
The 899 Panigale’s ‘Superquadro’ V-twin is good for a claimed 109kW and 99Nm in a package weighing 169kg (dry) – Ducati says this ‘Supermid’ version of its 1199 Panigale combines big-bike thrills with the character of an everyday street bike.
Certainly the 899 Panigale’s pricing will appeal to any Ducatisti whose budget can’t quite stretch to the $26,990 (plus on-roads) of the base level 1199.
