Ducati 1299 Panigale pricing announced

The new machines, updates from the 1199 Panigale, have now been priced ahead of their release in late April 2015

Ducati Australia has priced the new 1299 Panigale and 1299 Panigale S at $27,990 and $34,990, plus on-road costs for both. That's a $1000 increase over the superseded 1199 Panigales.

The 1299s will go on sale in late from late April/early May, 2015.

The latest superbike from the Bologna-based firm has a 1285cc Superquadro engine producing 205hp at 10,500rpmand 144.6Nm at 8750rpm. The dry weight is 166.5kg.

Thanks to the presence of the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), riders can count on cornering anti-lock braking, wheelie control and, on the S version, the Öhlins Smart EC, an ‘event-based’ suspension control system.

Moreover, the 1299 Panigale features, for the first time on a road-legal Ducati Superbike, a quickshifter which – in the current fashion – now works for downshifts as well.

Ducati says that its traction control, wheelie control and engine brake control have all been “optimised thanks to an automatic tyre size and final drive ratio calibration system”.

Meanwhile, the Panigale R has remained at 1199cc to fit under world superbike's 1200cc ceiling.
