
The Dakar Rally is one of the top-shelf motorsport events in the world, and in 2013 there were a number of Aussie entrants, including the experienced outfit GHR Honda with a cluster of motorcycle riders and one quad competitor – Paul Smith, who made history by becoming the first Australian to win a stage in the division.
A documentary has been produced on the GHR assault called ‘Dream of Dakar’ detailing all the inevitable highs and lows of competing in the arduous three-week marathon on a tight budget and against well-resourced factory teams. There’s plenty of action, both racing and behind the scenes, providing an insight into the sheer scale of this South American epic.
The documentary is about to start airing on the National Geographic Adventure Channel, and the telecast schedule is as follows:
