Doohan to visit Isle of Man

The five-time world 500 GP champion has confirmed he will be visiting the iconic locale for the 2011 TT races

Mick Doohan’s heading to this year’s Isle of Man TT, where his official duties will include starting the second Supersport race and presenting the trophies for the Senior TT.

Doohan will also complete a parade lap on a Honda Fireblade with five-time 2010 TT champion Ian Hutchinson on Wednesday, June 8.

He will also be meeting fans on Thursday, June 9 as part of the 'Day of Champions'.

“I'm really looking forward to visiting the Isle of Man and seeing a race or two,” Doohan said.  “I'm a massive fan of all bike sport and the TT has a huge pedigree and is obviously world famous so I want to go and see what all the fuss is about.

“I have a great respect for what those guys do there -- I've seen some YouTube footage and its looks mad.

“It will be great to dust down the leathers and get a lap of the famous mountain course, as well as having the chance to meet some fans.”

Following his trip to the Isle of Man, Doohan will also be visiting Silverstone to see the British leg of the MotoGP Championship.

Meanwhile, stay tuned for an insight into a new Doohan-branded TW Steel watch, which was launched in Melbourne on Wednesday, March 23 with a number of F1 stars in attendance.

Doohan is participating in the Ultimate Speed Comparison at this weekend's Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park, driving a Mercedes-Benz C63 against a V8 Supercar and F1 machine.
