The 2024 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) will take place on Sunday, May 19, and the event is hoping to coordinate 1000 different rides across the globe in a campaign it’s calling ‘Side by Side, Worldwide’.

Now in its 12th year, the DGR was established in 2012 to raise money for men’s mental health and prostate cancer – causes which have benefited from donations of over US$45m (A$70m) so far, organisers say.
As well as dressing in dapper clothing and riding only classic-themed motorcycles, DGR participants are asked to undertake their own fundraising activities for Movember, the DGR’s only charity.
The participants who raise the most funds in the lead-up to the event may be eligible for rewards that have been donated to the event by its sponsors, with the largest being a Thruxton 1200 Final Edition from Triumph, a brand that has been a keen supporter of the DGR since 2014.

For the first time, all riders who raise over US$250 (A$384) will earn a commemorative patch as well as going into the running for the Triumph, while anyone who manages to raise more than US$1000 (A$1533) will pick up a limited-edition pin pack consisting of three enameled DGR pins.
While the rides are generally free to participate in, some cities will stipulate a minimum donation to register, which will be added to the individual’s fundraising tally.

“In 2024, we have set ourselves the goal of reaching 1000 cities around the world,” says founder and Director of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, Mark Hawwa. “We have ridden with each other on the same day all around the world since 2012. Our community is one that comes together, despite borders and oceans, riding side by side to raise increasingly critical funds and awareness for men’s mental health and prostate cancer.”
