Welshman Chaz Davies and Italian Davide Giugliano have been signed to spearhead Ducati’s factory world superbike offensive over the next two seasons (2014 and 2015).
Both riders move to Ducati from different teams, with Davies, a four-time WSBK winner, a factory BMW rider over the last two seasons, while Giugliano was sixth in the championship on an Aprilia in 2013 – but was Ducati mounted in the preceding years.
Ducati is looking to bounce back in 2014 after a disappointing debut year for the all-new 1199 Panigale, which failed to deliver in the hands of the now retired Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini. Davies and Giugliano will start pre-season testing at Jerez on October 30-31, which will be the first of three test sessions planned before the 2014 championship begins at Phillip Island from February 21-23.
More detailed information concerning the organisation and management of the team will be available in the coming weeks.
