After finishing an impressive fourth in his Dakar Rally debut, Australian Daniel Sanders has joined the factory GasGas rally team for 2021 and beyond.
Sanders, who also goes by the nickname Chucky, will make his debut for the team at the upcoming Rally Kazakhstan, and will compete in the FIM Cross Country Rallies World Championship, as well as the 2022 Dakar Rally.

The 26-year-old from Victoria raced the 2021 Dakar Rally for KTM, but with no seats available on the factory team, he jumped at the opportunity to lead the GasGas outfit.
“Being the face of GasGas in rally is really cool,” said Sanders. “I’ve not been in rally that long so to be picked up and put on a factory team this early in my career is awesome.”
While he only made his rally raid debut in 2020, Sanders has an impressive racing resume. He won the 2019 Australian Off-Road Championship (outright and E3) and was the individual outright champion at the 2019 International Six Days of Enduro. He has also had success in the desert, winning the 2018 Hattah Desert Race. He also spent two seasons in EnduroGP with KTM.
GasGas has been a part of the KTM Group since 2019, making the transition from KTM a smooth one for Sanders. The Australian has raced for the KTM Group for most of his professional career, including a stint with the Husqvarna enduro team in Australia.
The Kazakhstan Rally is scheduled to take place from June 8-13. The 2022 Dakar Rally will once again take place in Saudi Arabia and is scheduled for Jan 2-14, 2022.
