Daniel Milner: 2012 A4DE champion
The local rider held his nerve on the final day of the Australian Four-Day Enduro to take home the spoils from Toby PriceYamaha’s Daniel Milner has claimed his first ever Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE), locking away the crown at his home town of Warragul (Vic) on October 27.
Milner, 21, was in charge from day one, and finished more than 90 seconds ahead of outgoing champion Toby Price (KTM) in the outright battle and three minutes ahead of Italian Alex Salvini (Husqvarna) in the E1 class.
“I’m so stoked to win an A4DE,” Milner said.
“Finishing the final moto today was a monkey off the back, that’s for sure. As soon as I finished the final moto, it felt unreal. I was super relieved to have it over with and the outright win for the first time -- which has been a huge goal of mine ever since I was a kid.
“Taking the win in my home town was also unreal - it felt amazing to have all the family there and all the supporters and all my mates were there too. Winning a four-day gets me pretty hungry to do it again.”
Milner’s celebration will be short-lived: on October 29 he’ll fly to America to compete in the final round of the famed Grand National Cross-Country series.
“I’ll be riding the YZ250F again. After winning the four-day on this bike, it’s pretty special to me,” said Milner.
“The confidence is definitely peaking right now after winning this, so we’ll go there feeling pretty confident.
“I wouldn’t mind getting in the top 10, but I’ve never been to the States before so I’m just excited to be going. It’s going to be an awesome experience.”
Salvini was also third outright, while Milner’s Yamaha’s team-mates Myatt Phillips and Stefan Merri9amn were fourth and fifth.
Phillips and Price won the E2 and E3 classes respectively, while other winners included Damian Smith (Veterans), Stuart Bennett (Masters) and Jessica Gardiner (Women’s).
