Canadian electric bike manufacturer, Damon Motorcycles, has unveiled a flagship model that features a 360-degree collision warning system. The CoPilot advance warning system utilises BlackBerry QNX technology and will be rolled out across the company’s entire line-up.
CoPilot uses radar, cameras and non-visual sensors to track speed, direction and velocity of moving objects around the motorcycle.
The flagship Hypersport was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. As well as the CoPilot system, the Hypersport Pro also features the patented Shift system, which lets riders electronically adjust the bikes ergonomics while in motion.
In addition to the patented tech innovations, the Hypersport also features 200hp and a claimed 0-60mph in under 3 seconds. It also has a range of over 200 miles and a battery charge time of less than three hours.
A higher-spec ‘Premier’ model will include Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension, but availability will be limited to just 25 units.
“We’re on a mission to unleash the full potential of personal mobility for the world’s commuters,” said Jay Giraud, CEO of Damon Motorcycles. “To address this, we spent the last three years developing an AI-powered, fully connected, e-motorcycle platform.”
Damon was awarded the 2020 ‘Best Innovation’ Award at the CES for the Hypersport.
While the advanced prototypes are set to hit the roads in mid-2020, there is no word on pricing, and we don’t expect to see them on Australian shores just yet.
