America has lost its motorcycle racing bible, Cycle News, bringing an end to a rich chapter in two-wheel journalism.
After 40 years, Cycle News pulled up stumps on August 31, with the weekly magazine seemingly a victim of not being able to develop a model to keep pace with the on-line publishing world and its 24-hour news and feature cycle - most of it free.
America was also hit hard by the GFC, which undoubtedly had a massive impact on copy sales.
Until recently, Paul Carruthers, the son of Australian world 250 GP champion Kel, was the Editor-in-Chief at Cycle News, a position he had held for many years.
