Cuban brings Harleys back to life

A big ask when there are bugger all left

January 10, 2009

Harley-Davidsons used to be everywhere in Cuba, but after the 1959 revolution and subsequent trade embargo by the United States, the supply dried up dramatically in favour of Communist hardware like the East German-made MZ.

Today, less than 100 Harleys are believed to still be in Cuba, most in a state of disrepair.

But one H-D enthusiast is doing his best to keep the Harley dream alive: 58-year-old Sergio Morales, and you can read his inspiring story by clicking here.

Morales, who owns a 1950 Panhead which lives in his house, learnt most of what he knows about Harleys by trial and error, as he didn't pick up a service manual to well after the Cold War had begun to thaw.
