CTP insurance to fall in NSW

An average price reduction of 19 per cent, according to the NSW government, with only the 1126-1135cc class set to pay more from January 1, 2012
Motorcycle riders in NSW are now paying less for compulsory third party insurance (CTP), with the ruling Liberal government claiming an average 19 per cent reduction from January 1, 2012.
"This is a great win for motorcyclists," said NSW Finance Minister Greg Pearce, who claimed the old premiums were out of step with the risks associated with riding powered two-wheelers.
The only segment that won’t benefit from the price reduction is the 1126-1325cc class, which will pay $29 for their CTP insurance.
The last major change to the NSW CTP structure for motorcyclists was in September 2010, with the previous Labor government claimed would see 50 per cent of motorcyclists pay less for their ‘green slip’.
