The Crocker Motorcycle Company of California, which up till now has existed to make and sell parts for the long-defunct American brand Crocker, has announced it will develop the fourth model ever - the C4.
Existing in concept form only at this stage, the machine is a naked V-twin sports bike with single-sided front end, rim-mounted front brake, Penske single shock on the rear. The powerplant is expected to be around 1500cc in capacity with a target output of 135 horses. No price has been announced, though it is likely to be high, given that the machine will be hand-built in small numbers.
Styling is by Crocker employee Daryl Tearne and borrows a number of cues from the Crockers of old. There were three Crockers developed in the original line-up: the Speedway, Small Tank and Big Tank, all based on 998cc twins. It also built an early scooter.
Developed by Albert Crocker, they were highly prized for their performance and finish but the brand had only a short life-span, from 1936 to 1941. Today they fetch prices in excess of $200,000.
