Peter Stevens, a motorcycle dealership network in Victoria and South Australia, has announced significant changes to its stores amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
While we reported last week that motorcycle dealerships would remain open, the rapidly changing situation is beginning to hurt businesses in the motorcycle industry.
In an online statement, Peter Stevens announced it would temporarily consolidate its Ringwood and Melbourne (Elizabeth Street) stores, beginning on Wednesday April 1, 2020.
The Ringwood Store will consolidate to Peter Stevens Dandenong, and the Elizabeth Street store will consolidate to Dandenong and Peter Stevens Geelong.
Small teams will remain at Ringwood and Elizabeth Street until Friday April 3, 2020 to help customers collect bikes and orders from the accessories department.
Peter Stevens stores in Dandenong, Adelaide, Geelong and the Melbourne Workshop (Kensington) all remain open. Customers can also continue to shop online at peterstevens.com.au.
While the changes are temporary, it’s clear that the motorcycle industry is hurting, with large organisations like Peter Stevens not immune.
“Since opening our dealerships almost 50 years ago, this is the hardest moment we’ve faced,” the statement read.
Here's hoping we can 'flatten the curve' and the entire motorcycle industry can resume normal operating sooner rather than later.
