BMW's G 310 R learner-approved naked bike will reach Australian dealerships in mid-July 2017, the German marque announced at a media event in Victoria recently.
The arrival will signal the end of a long wait for those keen to throw a leg over the new model, which was originally scheduled to land in Australian dealerships in late 2017.
Powered by a 313cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine, the G 310 R will go up against rival LAMS models like Kawasaki's Z300 ABS ($5999 plus ORC), Honda's CB300R ($5699 plus ORC), and KTM's 390 Duke ($6095 plus ORC).
Made in India, the BMW G 310 R is priced at $5790 plus ORC.
Available with ABS as standard, the G 310 R comes in three colour choices: Strato Blue Metallic, Cosmic Black, or Pearl White Metallic.
The model will give BMW's LAMS portfolio a concerted push as presently the brand's learner offering is restricted to its two scooters, the C 650 Sport and C 650 GT.
That LAMS offering will be expanded still further by the addition of an adventure-bike model, the G 310 GS, although here is no word on local availability or pricing as yet.
As for other impending BMW Motorrad arrivals, the updated S 1000 RR, S 1000 R and K 1600 GT models will get here in March (click here to read our review on the new K 1600 GT Sport), while the 2017 R 1200 GS – the update largely restricted to new colours – will arrive in April.
In addition to the G 310 R, BMW’s new Heritage models – the R nineT Pure, R nineT RACER and R nineT URBAN GS – will also be bolstering the line-up in July, when they will join the R nineT and the R nineT SCRAMBLER.
BMW says the K 1600 B – the bagger model first unveiled last year in the US – will arrive here later in the year, along with the up-spec K 1600 GTL Elegance.
