Cosmo twin launches

American trike mimics kids toy

You may have seen the laid-back kid's trikes with the massive front wheels - that's what inspired the latest thing out of the US, called the Cosmo.

The machine runs fat car tyres out back, but the front is supported by a massive 24-inch rim, a feature unique to this model.

Built by a firm called Olmax Fabrication in Wisconsin, the machine runs a 650cc vertical twin powerplant, with fuel injection and turbocharger, claiming a modest 70 horsepower and performance similar to a lot of V-twin cruisers.

It rides on air suspension and is fitted with a four-speed auto transmission, with reverse.

Cost is US$17,900 for the base model.
