Australian world Superbike star Troy Corser is on his way back to full recovery after surgery on the arm he broke at Aragon in Spain last Sunday (June 19).
The two-time world champion suffered clean fractures of ulna and radius in his left forearm when his factory BMW was cannoned into by Italian Maxime Berger in race two at Aragon. The following evening he underwent surgery at the Alexandra Hospital in Manchester, where the fractures were fastened with two titanium plates and 12 screws, six per bone. The operation went ahead without any complications.
Corser is now recovering at home, but he will miss the next round of the Superbike World Championship at Brno in the Czech Republic from July 8-10.
“We have decided that he will definitely not ride at the next round at Brno as his health and safety have highest priority for us,” said Bernhard Gobmeier, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director. “We will then see how his recovery progresses and will decide at a later time if he will participate at the British round at Silverstone end of July.
BMW is yet to decide whether another rider will deputise for Corser at Brno.
