Troy Corser has officially re-signed with BMW Motorrad Motorsport for the 2011 Superbike World Championship season, and is now set to campaign his S 1000 RR for a third consecutive year. According to Corser, the decision to renew his contract with BMW wasn't difficult. "It was an easy decision for me to continue with a team where I feel at home," he said. "We're really building something here and I've very much enjoyed being part of this project from the beginning," he added.
With two rounds of the 2010 Superbike World Championship remaining at the time of publication - Imola in Italy and Magny Cours in France - Corser was the leading Australian rider, sitting just one point outside of the top 10 in the championship standings, on 159 points. His best results this year have been third placings at both Monza and Misano - a further season with BMW will surely allow both him and the team to unlock even more of the S 1000 RR's potential. "I think we've already achieved a great deal together and I believe that, with our commitment and resources, we can climb further up the field over the course of the season ahead," he said.
The Director of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, Berthold Hauser, said he was thrilled with Corser's renewal. "We're very pleased that Troy Corser will continue to be part of our set-up," he said. "Troy has played a major role in getting our team to where it is today. He's been onboard from day one and his many years of experience in the Superbike World Championship have allowed him to carry out valuable work for us.
"Our task now is to build on this platform. We're in no doubt that we can achieve our ambitious aims together with Troy," he added.
Berthold went on to say that the identity of the team's second rider would be announced shortly.
